Mother's Day 2010

Monday, May 10, 2010

I have to say I had a great mother's day yesterday. Melissa and Paul went out Saturday morning to run some errands and when they came back they had purple tulips for me. Melissa was so proud to give them to me. She told me that she had more gifts for me, but I had to wait till Mother's Day. So Sunday morning came and I could hear Melissa and Paul doing something in the living room and I was told I could not come in. They were wrapping my gift. Melissa had picked out this very cute picture frame from Hallmark. It came with stickers so she could decorate it herself, it also had a record button on it. I can push the play button and her Melissa say " I love you Mommy". She was very proud of the gift. It was so sweet to see her get involved in the gift giving. Then after that Paul and Melissa wanted to take me out to eat for breakfast so off we went to IHop. It was so good and it was nice not to have to cook or clean that morning.

I hope all the moms reading this had a great Mother's Day.

Easter 2010

Melissa had a great Easter this year. She went to an Easter Egg Hunt at my Great Aunt's church. Melissa invited her friend Everly to join in the fun. I had pictures of them, but when I downloaded them they aren't any were to be found.

Getting ready for Church

At Church

Our Christmas and New Year's

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve we made cookies for Santa and then a Birthday Cake for Jesus. Melissa had fun making the cookies. That evening we went to the Christmas Eve service at our Church. As we got ready to head to Church the weather was getting bad outside. After Church we came home and got ready for Santa to come. We sat out the cookies and milk and then Paul read the Christmas story to us. Melissa has a Fisher Prices Little People Nativity Set and she loved playing with it this year. She took well care of Baby Jesus. As we tucked Melissa in to bed on Christmas Eve we looked out the window to see if we could see Santa.

Christmas morning she woke up not early thank goodness. The first thing she said was did Santa come see me? She was so happy to see the fun gifts Santa had brought her. Paul and I had fun watching her opening up the gifts and just seeing her face light up every time she would open up a new gift. This year was really fun with Melissa and I know next year will even be better. We also woke up to 1 inch of snow on Christmas morning. That was nice to see, wish it were more. After opening up all the gifts Melissa thought it was time to head outside and play in the snow. She had a blast walking around looking at the snow and even making a small snowman. The rest of the day we just stayed home and enjoyed playing with Melissa.

The day after Christmas some of my cousins came into town so we got to hang out with them. Melissa loves getting all the attention because she is the youngest one

We packed our bags and head out to West Texas on December 30th to visit my family. We stayed at my moms (DD) house. On New Year's Day my sister Peyton and brother in-law Alex came over and we had our Christmas with them. Peyton and Alex are expecting twins around the first part of April. I can not wait to meet my nephew and niece. Melissa was confused about her baby cousins being in Auntie Peyt’s tummy.
Then later on that afternoon my grandmother Mema, step grandfather Bill and my mom’s friend Robby came over for dinner. We had a fun time visiting with everyone.

We had a nice holiday this past year and look forward to seeing what 2010 will bringing us. We hope you all have a wonderful 2010.

Merry Christmas!

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Today is Christmas Eve and it looks like we might get some snow today! This year has been good year for our family. We are so blessed for all the good things God has done for us. I hope today and tomorrow you will look back on your year and I know for some it hasn't been the best of years. Just know that we are here for you and praying.

This Christmas Season has been a great one for Melissa. She is older (2 1/2) and she is loving everything about Christmas. Today we are going to make a Birthday Cake for Jesus and make cookies for Santa. We hope we get to play out in the snow and then head to our Church Christmas Eve service. Then come home and get ready for Santa to come. Tomorrow we don't have much planned just staying home and enjoy watching Melissa open up her gifts and playing with all the fun things. We might go over to our friends later on. I just like being home with my little family.

I hope you enjoy the video from our family to yours. Melissa has a big roll in this video!

Merry Christmas,

Love,
Paul, Traci and Melissa

Our Thanksgiving

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Oh boy I'm behind on this post so sorry. It just seems the blog has taken a backseat the last couple of months. Maybe it's because I don't have a lot to blog about and when I do, I forget to post.

For Thanksgiving we packed our bags and load up the SUV and headed to the Texas Hill Country to spend a long weekend with the Liberto family. Paul's brother Dan and his family had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. We had a great time hanging out the the family. We got to see Paul's sister Laurie and his other brother Michael. Also our niece Lisa who is back from serving over in Afghanistan was with us.

We enjoyed our visit and Melissa had a blast playing with her cousins.

Decorating the Christmas Tree and visiting Santa Claus

On Saturday, November 21, 2009 we started to get in the Christmas spirit by decorating the Christmas Tree. Melissa was so excited about the Christmas Tree. I told her when she went down for her nap that after nap time she could help mommy and daddy with the Christmas Tree. The first thing she asked about was the tree when she got up. She went running in to the living room and said look at the big tree. We had a fun time her decorating the tree. We had Christmas music going. I didn’t have time to put out the rest of our Christmas things so I had wait until after Thanksgiving to get the stockings and all the other things out.

Melissa also went to see Santa Claus and wasn’t sure about sitting in his lap and talking to him. She wouldn’t tell him what she wanted so I guess we need to get a letter in the mail soon.

Our Easter Pictures

Monday, April 20, 2009

I had every intention to post these pictures last week, but I have been busy working on our team shirts for our Great Strides walk on May 2, 2009.

We had a great Easter weekend. It started of on Thursday night Melissa and I went over to the in-laws for dinner and to see Grammy who flew in the day before. The Saturday night we head back over to the in-laws for our Easter dinner. Paul had to fly out on Easter Sunday (late afternoon) so we thought it would be best to have a good dinner on Saturday. Like always the food was good! After a long night we headed home. Paul and I thought we should go to Church as a family on Easter Sunday. We haven't taken Melissa to Church since she was 3 months old because of the germs. Paul and I take turns going to Church every other Sunday.
Easter Morning I made us breakfast and got us ready for the 11:00 service.
We made it on time and just in time to get a set. Melissa did well until the last 15 minutes and she had a enough of us telling her to be quiet and sit still. That doesn't go to well with a 22 month old.
After a good long Sunday afternoon nap we headed back to the in-laws to spend the last part of the afternoon with family before Paul headed out to the airport.
Melissa enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt. She didn't have to worry about fighting over the eggs, it was just her.

We hope you all had a blessed Easter.

One of my favorite songs on Easter

I thought you might like to hear one of my favorite songs. About 4 or 5 years ago the group Newsong came to our Church on Easter and at that time we had Sunrise service at the Rough Riders Baseball Stadium. Newsong played this song as the Sun was raising and it touched me. I Think Jesus for dieing on the Cross for our Sins and for God giving us the beautiful place called Earth.

I hope this Easter you can look back on the the good and bad time and see how the Lord has worked in your life. Happy Easter from our family.

Enjoy the song Arise my love by Newsong, I found the video on youtube.

Our Sweet Valentine & 300th post

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Today is the LOVE Day or Valentine's Day! One thing about it, I'm lucky to have a great loving husband, he is lucky to have a great loving wife and we are both lucky to have a wonderful loving daughter.

I can't believe it's our 300th post. It took us two years to get to 300, but it has been fun blogging about our life. Thanks for following us and welcome to our new friends.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you reading this.

Christmas in January

Monday, January 12, 2009

This past weekend Paul, Melissa and I got together with our best friends for our 8th Annual Christmas Party. We couldn't do this in December because everyone was booked. It was fun seeing everyone and all the kids. Wow has the group grown. We have 10 kids and one more on the way in March! We missed our friends Javier, Karl, Jakob and little Javier they where sick. We had a good time eating, talking opening gifts and our ornament exchange. God has blessed us with a great group of friends. We have been through it all!

Every year we try to take a group picture of everyone, a kid picture and then a girl picture. We have been taking the girl picture since our first party at my apartment. I wasn't even married yet! It's fun to look back on the old pictures and see how much we all have changed and seeing the families grow.

Us girls! Linda (2nd from the right) is due in March with her 3 boy!

Don't take my Tree down!

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Today we took down our Christmas decorations and Melissa wasn't happy about the tree coming down. At first I thought I would take the tree down while she was taking a nap, but then I changed my mind. I thought it might be best if Melissa saw me taking the tree down. She did OK with me taking the ornaments off the tree, but when it came time to unplug the tree she didn't like that. Then when we took the top part of the tree off she cried! I thought to myself "am I being a mean mom"? Once the tree was in the box and out on the patio she had forgotten all about the tree.

Texas Teddy Bear Factory

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Today Melissa went to the Texas Teddy Bear Factory in Grapevine Texas. Our friends Mr. Ken and Mrs. Shari gave Melissa a gift Certificate for a combination of Birthday and Christmas. If you haven't heard of Texas Teddy Bear Factory it's like Build a Bear. Melissa wasn't sure about what to do, so we just let her pick out different animals. At one point she had at least 5 animals in her arms. She only had enough money for two animals and one outfit. She ended up having the Cat and Elephant left in her arms. Once we figured out what animals she was going home with then it was time to stuff the Cat and Elephant. Melissa also got to pick out a noise maker for each one. The cat has the song "you are my sunshine" and the Elephant has "twinkle twinkle little star". Melissa wasn't sure about the lady stuffing the animals. She just didn't understand. After the lady stuffed the animals Melissa got to pick out a star and kiss it. Then she placed it in the Cat and Elephant. Then it was time to pick out one outfit. I thought the Cat need an outfit. The Cat and Elephant came with their own Birth Certificate. Kiki the cat was born on 12/31/2008 at Texas Teddy Bear Factory and belongs to Melissa. She was stuffed with fluff and love.
Ellie the Elephant was born on 12/31/2008 at Texas Teddy Bear Factory and belongs to Melissa. She was stuffed with fluff and love. The lady at the store help me pick out the names.
All in all it was fun and I think Melissa will enjoy going back when she is older.

Our Christmas 12/25/08

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

I had every intention to post this video over the weekend, but we have been very busy. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a great Christmas. This year was so much fun with Melissa. Last year she was only 6 months old and didn't know what was going on. This year Melissa loved everything about Christmas. DD flew in on Tuesday and stayed with us until Friday. Our Christmas Eve was nice, we stayed home and made Santa Cookies. Melissa helped us with that. She loved eating the cookie dough and the icing! That night Paul read us the Christmas story and then it was time for bed, but before bed we had to make sure the cookies and milk where out for Santa.

Christmas morning started early for us (6:30am) Melissa has been having sleeping problems. That's another post coming soon. Melissa wasn't sure at first what was going on, but it didn't take her long to get in to opening up gifts. Santa brought her a Kitchen with play food, two Elmo videos, a toddler Bible and a new blanket. Other gifts she got where lots of books, a new piano, microphone, Basketball goal (from us), a rocking chair and other things. I tell you she is spoiled already!

Paul and I got some neat things also. I got a lot of kitchen items that I asked for. Since I cook at least 3 meals a day I needed some new items. Melissa got me a gift certificate for a Facial! Yeah Melissa you know Mommy needs to take care of herself. Paul got book, movies, lots of Starbucks gift cards.

After Melissa's nap we headed to Paul's sister for Christmas Dinner. Melissa got more gifts at Aunt Maggie's and Uncle Kevin's. She got her 1st tea set, her 1st apron. She got another gift that I need to take back because she already had this toy. It was a special day that Melissa got to spend Christmas with both her grandmothers. All in all we had a wonderful Christmas week spending it with family.

We look forward to a great 2009.

Here is the video, sorry it's long!

Traci

Christmas Gathering #1

Monday, December 22, 2008
On Saturday we had our first Christmas Gathering with Paul's brother and his family, Paul's sister and her family and Paul's mom (Grammy). We met at Maggie's house for Dinner and fellowship. We love being around the family and Melissa loved playing with her older cousins. Jordan is 4, Sydney is 9, Conner is 13 and Courtney is 21. Melissa is the baby of the family. We miss the other two cousins who could not be with us. Jakob is 22 and Lisa is 29.
Grammy made a great dinner and also made a birthday for Uncle Dan! It was great. After dinner Melissa, Sydney and Jordan found the piano and played songs for us. The guys headed upstairs to watch the Cowboys play and us girls made a Gingerbread house. Melissa didn't help until it was time to decorate the house and try to eat the hard candy! We had a great night with the family.

Melissa's visit with Santa

Friday, December 5, 2008

I took Melissa to visit Santa yesterday. A friend of mine told me about a clothing store that has the same Santa every year. Last year we didn't want to take Melissa to visit Santa because she was still little and the GERMS. So Santa (Dada) came to visit Melissa last year. This year since this place wasn't in the mall there were no lines and not a lot of people in the store. I felt good that Melissa got to visit Santa, it just part of the memories I want her to have. Just because she has CF doesn't mean she can't do what other kids do. We just have to fine ways not to be around all the people and germs in the winter.

Melissa did really well with Santa. She let him hold her and when he would say Ho Ho Ho she would just laugh. The store also had a carousel rides. Melissa had her eyes on that. I wasn't going to let her on it because of the germs, but I thought I can clean her hands after she is done. Big mistake because she didn't want to get off the thing. She cried and cried, but got over fast when we left.

I have another picture of Santa and Melissa, but I can't show you yet. I'm using that picture for our Christmas cards and since my family reads this blog I have to wait. This picture is sweet of them.

Christmas at the Gaylord Texan Hotel

On Friday, November 28th we thought we would go and check out the Gaylord Texan Hotel. I have heard it was a nice place with Christmas decorations. Since DD was here visiting us I thought this would be a good time to go and check it out. We didn't get up at 4am for Christmas Shopping!
While we where there we saw a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree, ; magical train sets winding through 1,000 feet of track; a life-size gingerbread house made from 5,000 square feet of gingerbread. Melissa was having a blast. She didn't want to stop and take family pictures. I thought this would be a great place for us to take our family picture for our Christmas cards.
All she wanted to do was be left alone and not told what to do. If you are in the Dallas area you should check it out. http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-texan/special-events/grapevine-dallas-events/lone-star-christmas/index.html
When Melissa gets older there are more things for her to do.
