It's a whole new world

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

It's a whole new world when you can go outside and walk around. Melissa is really getting this walking down. We thought we would take her outside and let her walk around. She had so much fun doing this. It's a lot better than walking around in the Apartment. If only we had a back yard for her to play in.

I love my Teddy Bear

Melissa has attached herself to one of her Teddy Bears. The funny thing is this Teddy Bear has been in her room the whole time. It seems like since she started walking she is noticing more things. I just had to get some pictures and video with her Teddy Bear. I don't know if she will sleep with it. Melissa can't have anything in her bed she will talk to it all night.

Melissa's first time in the pool

On Sunday, May 25th we took Melissa to the pool for the first time. I knew she would love it, and I was right. As soon as her feet hit the water she started kicking them. She had the best time that day and loved watching all the big kids swimming around her. She also slept good that night.

2008 Great Stride Walks

This year Melissa had three different teams walking for her around the state of Texas. The first walk was on May 3, 2008 in San Antonio Texas. Our niece and nephews walk for her this year. On May 10, 2008 Melissa Grandmother DD put together a team in Lubbock Texas.
Then the one in Dallas Texas on May 17, 2008. Our team in Dallas raised over $3,000.00 and had a total of 19 walkers. We still haven't found out how much money we raised at Mooyah's. So that will bring our total up. Thanks to everyone who donated this year and to the walkers all over the state of Texas.

Melissa is 11 Months old

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Happy 11 months Melissa. You are one month away of turning 1! This past month you cut another tooth, that makes three. I know more are on the way! You are doing better at drinking your strawberry whole milk out of a sippy cup. You are eating more finger foods. I think you are getting tired of baby food! I don't blame you one bit! The fruit is good. You took your second plane ride to Lubbock and did well again. We stayed at DD's house and you slept in the pack n play like a big girl. The last week of being a 10 month old you thought it was time to start walking. You took your first step on 5/12/08. Looking forward to what you will do this month before you turn 1.

Taking Steps!

On Monday, May 12, 2008 Melissa thought it was time to start walking. She took about 3 steps that day but by the end of the week she was taking more like 10-15 steps.

Back Home!

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Melissa and I made it back home on Sunday night. We had a good time at my moms. Melissa got to meet a lot of people while we where there. As soon as we arrived on Wednesday we went out to eat with my sister, her husband and her in-laws. After dinner we went over to Peyton and Alex's place so they could spend some one on one with Melissa. Melissa had a good time playing on the drum. It was nice to get to visit with all of them.

On Thursday Melissa got to meet her Great Grandmother (Mema). Mema loved Melissa and could not get enough of her. We got to visit with her for a couple of hours. I'm glad she got to finally meet Mema.

Friday we didn't do to much. We took Melissa to the park and then had dinner with some close friends. Bill, Sharon and Sara loved entertaining Melissa. I found out that Melissa likes fish tanks. She kept going over to the fish tank and wanting to see the fish. Bill was so nice to help her see the fish.

Saturday we walked in the Lubbock Great Stride Walk for Cystic Fibrosis. My mom (DD) was the team leader and we had 9 walkers! That was a great turn out. I will have more on this so check out the blog later on. That night we met up with some more friends of mine. Freeman, Aimee, Audrey and Sofie. Freeman and Aimee adopted Audrey from China 4 years ago. She is a sweet girl. Their family grew this week when God sent Sophie to them. They adopted Sophie on Thursday she is 1 years old. Her and Melissa played good together.

Sunday was was Mother's Day so I cooked lunch for my mom and me. We took our Mother's Day picture.

Our 6th Anniversary and Mother's Day!

May 11, 2008

Happy 6th Anniversary Paul. Today is a double special day. I not only get to hear Happy Anniversary, but I get to hear Happy Mother's Day. I'm very blessed to be married to Paul and also be the mother of Melissa. The only thing wrong with this day is that I'm not with Paul. He didn't make it out to Lubbock on Friday so we're a part for most of the day. Melissa and I are flying home tonight.

6 years ago today was a beautiful day I was on cloud nine knowing I was about to marry my best friend. That still hasn't change. Yes our life has changed since Melissa entered the world, but I still love you Paul.

Last year on Mother's day I was ready to have Melissa. I still had over a month to go, but my legs, feet and hands OK my whole body was swollen. I couldn't walk with out my legs cramping up. I also had my 1st baby shower and that was fun. This year I get to love on my baby girl and I my body isn't swollen. I love being a mother. It is a hard job, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Come out and eat a Mooyah Burger and help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Mooyah Burgers is donating 15% of their proceeds to Melissa’s Crew, who is walking in the Great Strides walk.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).

Taking a Break!

I will be taking a break from blogging! Melissa and I are heading to Lubbock Texas on Wednesday. Paul will be flying out on Friday. We will be visiting with family and friends that haven't met Melissa yet. On Saturday we will be walking in the Lubbock Great Strides walk. My mom (DD) has put together a team and has raised $1,000.00 so far. I'm so happy that we can be at the walk and Melissa will have pictures of the people in West Texas that are supporting her and the Great Strides. One day their will be a cure found I just know it.

Once we get back I will have pictures. Also Paul and I will be celebrating our 6th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, May 11, 2008. I have been working on a sweet video to share with all of you.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms reading this.

My little helper!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Here are some pictures of my little helper. Melissa thinks she has to help me unload the groceries, unload the dishwasher, help take clothes out of the dryer and also help me fold the clothes. OK, I don't know about help, but she thinks I'm doing all of this for her. I encourage this so that one day she will want to help me with all of these things. I'm so amazed how she knows what I'm doing with out seeing me doing this. I guess she knows the sound of all these things.
