Melissa performing to the song "A Sunbeam"

Melissa has started performing "A Sunbeam” One morning while she was watching her video's I noticed her running to her room. I wasn't sure what she was doing so I followed her and she was getting her ball. Then she ran back to the living room and the song "A Sunbeam" came on. As you can see in the video she is performing like girls in the video. She is catching on fast. If you would like to see her perform live she has a show every morning at 9:30am

Please Pray for a CF Family

Sunday, March 22, 2009

I have been following baby Ethan's Story. Ethan had CF and other health issues and he had been fighting from day one. I just read his blog and he passed away, he was Born August 1st, 2008 and passed away March 13th, 2009. I know his family would appreciate all the prayers. You can read Ethan's Blog at http://ethanamurray.blogspot.com/

This hits home to Paul and I because of Melissa. We count our blessing everyday that she is doing well with her CF, but that doesn't mean that tomorrow or in the future she will have more health problems. We need to find a CURE SOON so CF stands for CURE FOUND! The average life span is 37, but with Ethan's story it was only 7 1/2 months. Please help us find a cure for the disease.

It's Spring here in Texas

Sunday, March 22, 2009

It's Spring here in Texas and we are loving the nice weather. Last Wednesday, Melissa and I went to the Dallas Arboretum with our friend Amy. This time of year is the best because they have the Dallas Blooms. Hundreds of tulips which is my favorite flower. The weather was perfect for us to walk around and enjoy all the flowers. We had a picnic lunch on the green grass and enjoyed life. Melissa had fun running in the green grass with out her shoes. You can see in the video she is having a blast.

I hope we can find some Bluebonnets again this year and get some good pictures, when we do I will make sure to post those.

Happy Spring to those who are in the Season

Kaelyn's 2nd Birthday, St. Patrick's Day and Melissa is 21 months

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Today our friends, Lena and Kaelyn came over for a play date. Kaelyn turned 2 yesterday so I thought it would be fun to celebrate her Birthday. I bought cupcakes and had candles for her to blow out. Since today is St. Patrick's Day I bought cupcakes with green icing on them. The girls had a great time playing together. We went out on the patio and had fun with the bubbles. The girls were having a blast trying to blow bubbles. Melissa is likes having her friends over to play. It just seems like yesterday Kaelyn was born and I had 3 more months to go with Melissa. Lena and I looked back and can't believe that our girls are growing up so fast. Melissa turn 21 months today, that means 3 more months and she will be turning 2!

Dad's Lucky Charm!

Melissa and her friend Everly

On Saturday, March 14, 2009 our friends Chris, Nelly, Everly and Evern came over to visit and for dinner. Melissa and Everly had a blast playing together. It so neat to see the girls growing up and learning to play and some times share. Melissa was also intrigued by Little Evern who is 2 1/2 months old. This was her first time to be around a little baby like that. She did good for the most part, but when he would cry she didn't like it one bit. I caught the girls signing the ABC song so I had to get on video. It's so cute watching them singing together. One day they will be old enough to sing on a stage at Church!

Finger Painting and Swim Lesson's

Melissa has been staying busy these last couple of weeks. Last week winter came back so we had to stay indoors more and what did we do , we finger painted! She loved every minute of it. I think she could have painting all day if I would have let her. Here is a video of our artist.

Melissa has also started swim lesson's. Paul and I know how much she loves the water and felt we needed to start getting her ready for the summer since we will be at the pool a lot. The swim class is for toddlers. Only one parent can be in the pool with the child. It's for a month every Saturday for 30 minutes. Melissa is doing good in her class. She loves the water. I didn't want to post this video only because I'm in the video (Traci). You can see from the video how much fun Melissa is having.

Update on Melissa's CF Appointment

Thursday, March 12, 2009

As I said in my last post Melissa had lab work done. Her doctor wanted to check her vitamin D level. We got good news this morning. Her vitamin D level is 37 and last time it was 23. The low end of normal is 30.

Melissa's CF Check UP

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Melissa had her check up at the CF Clinic today. It was time for her to have another chest x-ray and her lungs still look good. She also had to have lab work done to check her vitamin D level. Back in September her level was low so she has been taking vitamin D chewables. We won't get the results either later today or tomorrow.

Once again Melissa is doing well. She gained one pound in three months, but that's ok because at this age she will stop growing so fast. She has slowed down on eating.

We also got good news that starting in May we can introduce Melissa to the church nursery. It's time for her to be around germs oh and kids! We can also let her attend in the fall/winter, but have to be more concerned with cold and flu season. Maybe we can also put Melissa in a mother's day out program for 2 days a week. We will keep you posted on that.

Melissa started swim lessons last Saturday. She loves the water. I will post pictures after this weeks class when Paul can be there to take pictures for me.

Please continue to pray for Melissa that she stays healthy.

ELMO Live was a big hit

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Last night Paul and I took Melissa to see Elmo's Green Thumb. Our dear friend Erica works at Nokia Live in Grand Prairie where the show was at. She called late Friday night asking if we still wanted tickets. She got three tickets in one of the Suites. It was perfect because it was our family and two other families.

Yesterday afternoon we started telling Melissa we were going to go see Elmo. I had bought her a new Elmo shirt a couple of weeks ago for the summer, but I thought she just had to wear it to see Elmo. Since it was in the 40's I had to put long sleeves under it. On the car ride to the Nokia I kept telling her about Elmo. Once we got to our seats she was already in to it. She heard Big Bird talking telling everyone take your seat the show will start in 3 minutes.

Once the show started she was hooked! Bert and Ernie came out first and she was talking and clapping at them. Then here comes more of the Sesame Street Characters. She was out of her seat in a heart beat dancing to the music, jumping up and down and singing. Oh what a great night just watching her face and seeing her have a good time. We know she will not remember this but at least we have pictures and video of her.
