Today is our big day we get to meet Baby Peanut! I was happy that I get to wake up take a shower and put on my makeup for all my photos. With Melissa I was in labor 15 hours and by the time she arrived I looked like I was run over by a truck. So this time I will be happy to take pictures with Baby Peanut since I will be rested.

We all woke up happy and ready for the day. As we started our morning off getting ready, Melissa woke up with a bad head cold and a really bad rash all over her face. I could not believe this we had to be at the hospital in 2 hrs and now she has a rash. My mom was going to drop her off at school and then come to the hospital. That all changed, Melissa can't go to school with the rash. Not sure where she got it from, last night was her choir program but no one that she as around had a rash. So we had to come up with a 2nd plan for her. Once we got a hold of Melissa's doctor they could get her in around 10:00am. Now my mom had to take her to the doctor and then come back home and spend the whole day with her. So glad DD is here to take care of things. Paul and I had to leave the house @ 9:30am to head to the hospital for the C-section @ 11:00am.

I wanted to be with Melissa since she wasn't feeling good but can't since I have other plans. I know she will be in good hands with her DD.

Melissa's 1st Choir Program

What a way to spend the night before Baby Peanut's Birthday by hearing Melissa sing at her 1st choir program. Our Church has a great Children's department and during the fall and spring they offer choir to kids 3 and up to sing. So tonight we got to hear all the load and sweet voices of 3 year old's singing. This was their Christmas program. Melissa didn't do so well she was upset her friend Brooke moved and wasn't standing by her. As you can see in the video she just wasn't in to it. Sorry for the video, Paul was doing the recording and didn't just let the it roll he kept stopping and starting.

The day before Baby Peanut is born

Today has been a bitter sweet day for me. As I sat at the kitchen table with Melissa eating breakfast I realized our life is about to change once again. Tomorrow is Baby Peanut's Birthday! I have been trying to get Melissa prepared for tomorrow but not really sure if she understand. So I spent the day making sure the house was clean, bags packed and Melissa was all taken care of when my mom arrived. The most important part of today was spending my time with Melissa. We played outside or she played I watched. I love my Melissa and so happy she will get to be a big sister and share her love with Baby Peanut.

We carved our annual family pumpkin Melissa had fun this year. She had fun feeling of the inside of the pumpkin and all the seeds. I made us some roast pumpkin seeds this year and she loved them.

This year for Halloween Melissa dressed up as Jessie from "Toy Story". She really got in to the part. We meet up with some of her friends and spent the evening at our Church Fall Festival.

My dear friends Terria and Lisa throw me a Diaper and Gift Card baby shower. Since Paul and I kept almost everything of Melissa's we really didn't need anything for Baby Peanut. Yes, Baby Peanut can use a new outfit, but we didn't need all the big items. So I told Terria and Lisa we need diapers. It was a nice shower and had lots of fun with family and friends. Not much longer and Baby Peanut will be here. Thanks Terria and Lisa for a wonderful shower!

On Friday, October 1st Melissa had her CF Clinic appointment. She is doing well and growing like a weed. Her doctors are very pleased to see her doing so well. As the winter gets closer we start to get worried that she will come down with something, but she has had her flu shot so that will help, but can't keep the head cold away from her at school. Melissa's Doctor and Respiratory therapist think that it's time for Melissa to have her own Vest. In the past Paul and I have been doing her CPT's, but the Vest is supposed to be better for her and it also helps clear her lungs (if she has anything in them) better. The Vest was invented for CF patients so it's one of a kind. Now days it's being used for other patients with other lung problems.

Melissa received her Vest on Saturday and after being trained on how to use it, she has been using the vest everyday. We requested a pink vest, but they sent her a black one. Should be getting the pink one soon. I just wanted to give you and up date on the new treatment for Melissa. She can do her breathing treatments while the vest is on. As you see in the video she likes it for now, but she might get tired of it like she does with her breathing treatments. Check out the video below.

Pumpkin Patch and Paul's Birthday

DD came in this weekend. We had to go to the pumpkin patch while she was her. We went to a new Pumpkin Patch on this year Celina's Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. We enjoyed it a lot and can't wait tell next Fall to take Baby Peanut with us. She will be almost one when we come back. Melissa enjoyed petting the animal's riding the train and taking a hay ride around the farm. They have a pretty little Chapel that they rent out for weddings. It would be a nice place to get married.

On September 24, 2010 Paul and I took Melissa to see Veggie Tales Live at our Church. Melissa's friend was also there and they had a blast. It's amazing how we go to all the kids shows but Paul and I never get to go do Adult things anymore.

On Saturday, August 28, 2010 Melissa was was invited to go see Nickelodeon Storytime Live with her friend Garrett. Melissa and Garrett had a great time. The highlight of the show was when Dora came out. It's fun to watch Melissa with her friends.

Well once again I'm behind on the blog. Why oh why can't I just sit down and type like I did before? Well maybe because life has gotten busier I don't know. Any ways Melissa started back to preschool on August 26, 2010 and loves it. She has moved up to the 2nd floor where all the big kids are at, as she will tell you. "No more babies on my floor mommy". Melissa seems to have three wonderful teachers and I truly believe that is a God thing. Melissa has been coming home playing school and pretending to be her teachers. I love watching her and see what all she comes up with. She is growing up way to fast for me.

I have also started back to teaching at Melissa's preschool and even though I'm 7 months pregnant, it's going good. I was a floater last year and this year I teach in a classroom with 2 1/2 year olds. They are a great group of kids. So our Tuesday's and Thursdays are busy, but it's good for Melissa and I to get out of the house and be around other people.

It's hard to believe Melissa is already 3! Her Birthday was on June 17, 2010 but with our move and all I haven't had time to post this. The morning of her Birthday was VBS so I took her to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. I did this last year with her and she loved it so I think this is what I or we will do every year on her Birthday. That night DD came in to help us move and watch Melissa for us. DD wanted to take Melissa some place special so we went to the Rain Forest Cafe. Melissa loves this place. The wait staff brought her a dessert and sang Happy Birthday to her. Melissa thought that was lots of fun. Paul was out of town on Melissa's Birthday so the weekend we move we had a little party for her. We wanted to do something for her Birthday, but just didn't have time with the move so about two weeks later we had a party at Chuck E. Cheese. She had about 8 friends come and they all had a blast. This isn't something we will do every year. We are so blessed that Melissa is healthy and that her CF is so mild. We count our blessing every day that God gave her to us. Melissa makes us laugh all the time even though she has her trouble three moments, she still has her loving and care side. I'm sad to she her grow up at times, but I can't wait to see what she will be like at four.

I had my 20 week appointment last Monday and the doctor confirmed we are having another GIRL! We are excited that about having another girl. Melissa is already looking forward to her baby sister. She will tell you she wants a baby brother because most of her friends have new baby brothers. It will be fun to see them grow up and I hope they will be best friends.
Baby Peanut is grow and she looks great. I really can feel her moving these days.

I'm past the half way point and can't believe I'm at 5 months. I guess we can now start getting the nursery ready.

Here is a picture of me that Paul took two weeks ago. I know I look big, but I really haven't gained a lot of weight. I just have a baby belly.

Since Melissa loves to be in the swimming pool we thought we better get her in swim lessons. Our friends told us about a lady who teaches swim lessons at her house. They said their son learned a lot in one week. So Paul and I signed Melissa up and she loved it. We didn't get to stay and watch her everyday, but the last day the parents got to watch what the kids had learned and wow Melissa did great.

As you all know Melissa has been taking her pancreatic enzymes since she was 3 weeks old with applesause. Last weekend she had a milestone. She started swallowing her pills whole with out the help of applesause. We forgot to grab the applesause as we walked out the door so when we ate lunch I asked Melissa "do you think you could swallow our enzymes with applesause?" She said " yes mommy I will let me show you" What do you know she did with out any problems. She has been taking them ever since last weekend all by herself. I can't tell you how happy I am that I don't have to carry around applesause anymore.

We have moved in to our new house

On June 19th the movers showed up at our door and packed up our apartment and moved us in to our new house. We have been married for 8 years and our dream was to have our own home. Thanks to God it happened. We have been blessed to have nice apartments with a roof over our heads and a bed to sleep in at night. It is just different when you have your own home. It has been fun watching our house being built. My mom came in that weekend to help us out and to babysit Melissa. She was a big help and I could not have done it with out her. Thank you mom for your help. Thanks to my friend Terria for coming over before the move and helping me pack up the kitchen. The movers came at 7:30 a.m. and had us unload at the new place at 10:00 a.m. Paul and I stood in the house and could not believe we could call this place home. We can raise our kids here and make lots of wonderful family memories. Melissa did great with the move she was happy to be out of the apartment. She has lots of space to play and run around. She is loving her back yard as she tells us. The night of the move our wonderful friends Robert and Lisa who are now 10 minutes away from us brought us dinner. They brought us food from Babes. Oh my goodness that was great food. Thanks Robert and Lisa for thinking of us. Paul and I still had the apartment on the our minds we still had stuff over there. We had till June 30th to get everything out and clean the place up. I just wanted it to be done with that place. We turned our keys in on June 26th and that is when it really hit me no more load neighbors upstairs, no more apartment life. It felt so good to turn the keys in.

I had a doctors appointment on Monday and the baby is growing and doing great. I got to see our little one and I have also started feeling he or she moving for about 2 weeks. I think it was later on with with Melissa. Our scanner is down so I can't scan the ultrasound picture. I'm not as tired as I had been so that is good since I have my plate full. I'm blessed that I don't have to work a full time job and come home cook, clean, pack for our move. I am amazed how working moms do it! Baby and I are doing good and moving right a long. I have had a lot of people ask me about the sex. I really don't want to find out, but Paul does. I really want it to be a surprise. So I will make my mind up soon before our next ultrasound.

Well the house is almost done and we move in to the house in 11 more days! We can not wait to say goodbye to apartment life and hello to being home owners. Melissa loves going to the house and run around with all the space.

The fish has hit the pool already. Melissa loves the water. Paul has been taking her on the weekends to swim while I stay inside and pack. It's already hot here in Texas and with me being pregnant the heat and I don't mix. I do look forward to going to our new pool in our new neighborhood once we get moved in. We have signed Melissa up for more swim lessons at the end of June.

On May 25, 2010 was Melissa's last day of preschool. Melissa had so bumps in the road during the year, but with Paul and I working with her and us moving her to a new class room in January she really ended up liking school. She made a lot of friends and loved her teachers. Paul and I could tell how much she had grown just by going to school. She memorized bible verse and the pledge.

Well with us getting ready to move in to our new house the blog has been on the back burner. I have lots to post so I thought I better sit down and post.

Back in May we went to my younger cousins High School graduation in Springdale AR. Justin is a sweet young man and I look forward to watching him grow in to a young man. Melissa loves her cousin Justin and we all had a great time with the family.

8th Wedding Anniversary, Mother's Tea and 12 week Sonogram

On Tuesday, May 11, 2010 was a busy day for us. Paul and I celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary. We went out to eat for dinner with Melissa.

Earlier that day, I was invited to attend a Mother's Tea. Melissa's preschool class had all the mother's come at 1:15pm for a light lunch and snacks. The teachers had the room decorated nice and all the kids had a gift for the mom's. Melissa was so excited when I came in the room she had made me a plate that had Happy's Mother's Day 2010 on it. The kids also learn a new song and sang it for us. I got it on video it is so cute. That was a special time for me. It is hard to believe Melissa will be three soon. She has grown up so much since school started in August. I love my little girl. Melissa has made lots of friends, but one friend she talks about all the time and plays with all the time is Kieffer. Melissa's teachers say they have a love/hate relationship. The will be loving on each other and playing just fine and then one of them will do something to make the other one cry.

That afternoon Paul, Melissa and I headed over to the hospital to have a sonogram . We got to see our little baby. The baby is 12 weeks and every thing is looking good. The heart beat was 160 and we got to hear it. The doctor we meet with was the genetic doctor who we saw with Melissa during the whole pregnancy. We talked about the chances of having another child with CF. He is so kind and wants us to keep coming back to him every 4-6 weeks so we can keep an eye on the baby.

How your baby's growing:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. I have to say I had a great mother's day yesterday. Melissa and Paul went out Saturday morning to run some errands and when they came back they had purple tulips for me. Melissa was so proud to give them to me. She told me that she had more gifts for me, but I had to wait till Mother's Day. So Sunday morning came and I could hear Melissa and Paul doing something in the living room and I was told I could not come in. They were wrapping my gift. Melissa had picked out this very cute picture frame from Hallmark. It came with stickers so she could decorate it herself, it also had a record button on it. I can push the play button and her Melissa say " I love you Mommy". She was very proud of the gift. It was so sweet to see her get involved in the gift giving. Then after that Paul and Melissa wanted to take me out to eat for breakfast so off we went to IHop. It was so good and it was nice not to have to cook or clean that morning.

Wow the house is coming together fast. Last Saturday we took my mom out to see our new house and we could not believe they had the brick and the drywall up. My mom was very exited for us and can't wait to come visit and have her own room.

Last night Paul, Melissa and I went out to check on the house and again new things went up.
The garage door is on and the outside had been painted, we have a sidewalk and a driveway. The walls had be textured and the cabinets in both bathrooms and kitchen are in. We really feel like the builders are moving a long fast. Paul and I are still hoping for the end of May.

Paul, Melissa and I have some very exciting news. First of all Melissa is going to be a BIG SISTER! Yes, you are reading that right, BIG SISTER. I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I had a sonogram today and the baby looks good and is a size of kidney bean and the heart beat is strong. Melissa is really excited to be a big sister. The due date is November 24, 2010.
This baby has the same chance of having Cystic Fibrosis as Melissa did. 25% having CF or 75% not having it. We pray that the baby is healthy even if it does have CF. We know what life is like with a CF child so we feel what ever God gives us we will be blessed. I know the question that is on a lot of peoples mind is will you find out before the baby is born if it has CF. That is something Paul and I haven't talked about yet.

The other exciting news is that Paul and I are going to be home owners. We signed papers on a house last Friday. The house is a brand new house being built. It is already in the framing stage. The house is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home. We are excited to be able to finally have our own place our kids can call home. We won't get to move in until the end of May or early June.

Back in April we had some family come to town so we all went to the Dallas Arboretum. Our sister in-law Jackie, her mom Patsy and our three niece's Conner, Sydney and Jordan had never been to the Arboretum. This is one of my favorite place to go during the spring and fall. Melissa had a blast hanging out with her cousins. As you can see from the pictures the Tulips are beautiful.

After a week of waiting to start Melissa on TOBI the day has come. When Melissa and I where at the CF Clinic last Tuesday her Social Worker gave me a coupon for a $10 co-pay for TOBI. She said I think you will need this. Boy was she right about that. After dropping off Melissa prescription the pharmacy called me and told me that it would be $1,095.21 that we would owe. I was in shock had no idea it was that much. Our insurance would pay $4000. So I told them to hold off on filling the prescription and I called the Novartis $10 co-pay and Melissa was eligible for the program. I can't tell you how happy I was to only pay $10.

After reading up on TOBI and getting some advice we started Melissa on it this morning. She has to take 2x day 12 hours apart for 28 days. Melissa morning began around 8:00am with her albuterol breathing treatment about 15 minutes and then the TOBI for 30 minutes. It is giving me some good bonding time with her. I pray this will kill the bacteria and she doesn't grow it again anytime soon.
I'll keep you update on how she is doing with the treatment.

Today Melissa's class at preschool dressed up in their western wear.

Let me set one picture up for you.
Melissa doesn't have anything western wear so I was in walmart looking for a cheap cowboy hat, found one in the toy area for $5 and then went looking for some kind of boots. Since they had all there winter boots on sale I just knew I would find some type of boots for her to wear. Not even looking for cowboy boots. I came across some cowboy boots for $7 marked down from $19. Then I remembered Melissa had a pink bandanna that Auntie Peyt gave her when she was born. Over the weekend I had Melissa try on the boots and hat to make sure it fit.

It has been a blessing to watch Melissa be a kid. Since she has started school she has made some friends and everyday these 4 have to give each other a hug before starting the school day. Melissa was in the same class with the other three, but I ended up moving her to another room because of some behavior issues she was having. Things are better for her and she loves her new teachers and has made friends in her new class room.

On Friday Melissa and I met her friends and their moms at the park. It was a beautiful early spring day. The kids had fun running around chasing each other. I love seeing Melissa with her friends just having a good time and not a care in the world. In her little friends eyes there isn't anything wrong with Melissa, they don't know she has CF. Melissa doesn't even know that she has CF, we talk about it with her but she is to young to understand. God has blessed Melissa with lots of wonderful friends and we are so thankful to have each and every friend.

Last Sunday Boz the Bear Next Door came to our Church to put on a show for all the kids 2yr-5yr. Melissa was excited that Boz was going to be at Church. She watches his videos so she was ready to sing and dance. Her Sunday school teacher said that her and the other kids danced and sang the whole time. After Church Boz Melissa got to take her picture with Boz.

Tonight we are taking Melissa to ride Thomas the Tank Engine. He is here in North Texas for two weekends. I will post pictures of that later on this weekend.

I wanted to give you an update on Melissa. Two weeks ago Melissa came down with either a sinus infection or an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI), took her in to her primary doctor. After three days (last Friday) she started coughing really bad. With Melissa having CF we always have to keep and eye on her when she starts coughing. After talking with the CF Clinic on Friday we started her on her breathing treatments and they wanted us to call back on Monday (yesterday) to give them an update on Melissa. She was still coughing so they had Melissa come in today for a checkup she had to have chest x-rays taken.
After talking with the doctor the cough could be one of three things.
1) she could be coughing because of the drainage from this last URI
2) RSV is going around and she could had had a touch of it
3) It could be caused by a bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Back in December she had a throat culture taking and it showed that Melissa was growing Pseudomonas aerugionsa. This is a type of bacteria that, among other things, causes lung infections in people with CF. Melissa is now taking her regular breathing treatments but has to take TOBI( Tobramycin Inhalation Solution which is a inhealed medication for CF patients. Melissa is also on a strong antibiotic to help kill this bacteria. If untreated this could cause a lot of lung problems for Melissa. Her chest x-rays came back looking good and her lungs sound clear. So with this treatment we should be able to stop the bacteria from spreading to her lungs. She isn't contagious so she can still be around everyone.

Paul and I want to thank you all for being so supportive of Melissa. She has been doing well these past 2 1/2 years and we hope she stays this way for ever. We know that things could get worse, but we pray that the cure for CF comes soon.

Got word from my mom that my sister is doing well from the c-section and that River and Ecko are doing great as well. We thank God for taking care of them. Peyton is going home tonight but River and Ecko have to stay at the hospital. Not sure when they will get to come come.

My sister Peyton and Brother in-law welcomed into the world their twins today. The babies are about 6 weeks early. Peyton went to the hospital last night because her blood pressure was up, the doctor wanted to keep her at the hospital over night to monitor her blood pressure. About 1:00pm today the doctor told Peyton and Alex that she had preeclampsia and that they need to deliver the babies today. So after a c-section Peyton and Alex finally got to meet their babies.

River Isabella was born @ 7:16pm weighing in at 3lb 11oz, 16 1/2in long
Ecko Jude was born @ 7:17pm weighing in at 4lb 6oz, 18in long

Both River and Ecko are doing well and are breathing on their own. They are in NICU and hoping they don't have to stay in there long.
We also know that Peyton is not a carrier for CF so we don't have to worry about them having CF.
Paul, Melissa and I won't get to meet River and Ecko until May, it is going to be so hard not go visit before then. Melissa doesn't understand about her baby cousins. She knows that they are in Auntie Peyt's tummy, but she isn't going to understand when she sees pictures of them. Once I get pictures I will post them.

Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed Melissa has had some stomach issues. As a CF caregiver one thing I have to do is make sure Melissa's BM is normal. If you don't have CF or don't take care of anyone with CF then this post might seem like to much TMI (To Much Info). Well one thing Paul and I noticed when Melissa was born she had a lot of greasy stool. As she has gotten older we have had noticed it every once an a while and also that she has a lot of gas. Since Melissa has been on enzymes she has only had to increase the amount she takes four times. The last time the doctor increased her enzymes was back in September 2009. That put her at 4 enzymes per meal and 2 enzymes for a snack. Two weeks ago when I noticed Melissa having trouble the doctor said to give her 5 enzymes per meal and 3 per snack. That didn't seem to help. Melissa was still having lots of gas and her stool was still greasy. This past Monday I called back and told the clinic and they said to give her 6 enzymes per meal and see if that helps. I have to say it is working!
I'm sure all of you with CF can relate to Melissa. I'm glad we could figure the problem out that nothing else was wrong.

On February 11, 2010 we woke up to snow. The local weather said we would get about 2-3 inches of snow, but we got a lot more than that. I think we got around 6 inches, but DFW airport got over 12 inches. That is a lot of snow for North Texas. Melissa and I had a blast playing in it and then when Paul got home from Russia he helped us make another snowman.

DD comes for a visit

On February 5, 2010 DD came for a visit. It had been about 4 months since DD has been to see us. Melissa had a blast the her DD. Melissa and DD made Valentine cookies and just played. DD gave Melissa a Thomas the Train set and also a Mickey Mouse floor puzzle for Valentine's .

Do you remember the post that was about Melissa moving to a big girl bed? Well I have an update and pictures of her bedroom. If you recall back in October Paul and I wanted to have my old bedroom furniture refinished. We got all the pieces back right before Christmas. Melissa still loves her bed and is doing a good job staying it at night.

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve we made cookies for Santa and then a Birthday Cake for Jesus. Melissa had fun making the cookies. That evening we went to the Christmas Eve service at our Church. As we got ready to head to Church the weather was getting bad outside. After Church we came home and got ready for Santa to come. We sat out the cookies and milk and then Paul read the Christmas story to us. Melissa has a Fisher Prices Little People Nativity Set and she loved playing with it this year. She took well care of Baby Jesus. As we tucked Melissa in to bed on Christmas Eve we looked out the window to see if we could see Santa.

Christmas morning she woke up not early thank goodness. The first thing she said was did Santa come see me? She was so happy to see the fun gifts Santa had brought her. Paul and I had fun watching her opening up the gifts and just seeing her face light up every time she would open up a new gift. This year was really fun with Melissa and I know next year will even be better. We also woke up to 1 inch of snow on Christmas morning. That was nice to see, wish it were more. After opening up all the gifts Melissa thought it was time to head outside and play in the snow. She had a blast walking around looking at the snow and even making a small snowman. The rest of the day we just stayed home and enjoyed playing with Melissa.

We packed our bags and head out to West Texas on December 30th to visit my family. We stayed at my moms (DD) house. On New Year's Day my sister Peyton and brother in-law Alex came over and we had our Christmas with them. Peyton and Alex are expecting twins around the first part of April. I can not wait to meet my nephew and niece. Melissa was confused about her baby cousins being in Auntie Peyt’s tummy.
Then later on that afternoon my grandmother Mema, step grandfather Bill and my mom’s friend Robby came over for dinner. We had a fun time visiting with everyone.

We had a nice holiday this past year and look forward to seeing what 2010 will bringing us. We hope you all have a wonderful 2010.

Today is Christmas Eve and it looks like we might get some snow today! This year has been good year for our family. We are so blessed for all the good things God has done for us. I hope today and tomorrow you will look back on your year and I know for some it hasn't been the best of years. Just know that we are here for you and praying.

This Christmas Season has been a great one for Melissa. She is older (2 1/2) and she is loving everything about Christmas. Today we are going to make a Birthday Cake for Jesus and make cookies for Santa. We hope we get to play out in the snow and then head to our Church Christmas Eve service. Then come home and get ready for Santa to come. Tomorrow we don't have much planned just staying home and enjoy watching Melissa open up her gifts and playing with all the fun things. We might go over to our friends later on. I just like being home with my little family.

Melissa's CF Appointment

Melissa had her CF appointment yesterday and everything went well. She has gotten taller since her last appointment 3 months ago. She is right at 36in and she weighs 31lb 11.9oz. She didn't gain much weight from her last appointment, but her doctors aren't concerned at this time. Her lungs sound clear, praise the lord! She does have some congestion in her nose, but it could just be the change in weather and having the heat on that has got her congested. I know that both Paul and I have had some sinus pressure the last week.
Melissa did great today at her appointment she received her 2nd half of the H1N1 shot and also had to have blood work today. The CF Clinic gave her a stocking full of fun things in it, like her first barbie doll, a reindeer, Christmas book, a nice warm hat and some fun ELMO cups. Also every year the clinic gives the patients a Christmas ornament, she picked out a snowman ornament this year.

As we were waiting to get her blood taken the staff down in the Lab gave her a Beanie Baby Christmas Bear. She thought this was the best thing coming to this appointment getting all kinds of fun things.

We are so blessed this Christmas that Melissa is doing so well. It has been fun this year to get out and do fun things with her this season. We still are being careful where we take her, but she is have a lot of fun this Christmas season.

Oh boy I'm behind on this post so sorry. It just seems the blog has taken a backseat the last couple of months. Maybe it's because I don't have a lot to blog about and when I do, I forget to post.

For Thanksgiving we packed our bags and load up the SUV and headed to the Texas Hill Country to spend a long weekend with the Liberto family. Paul's brother Dan and his family had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. We had a great time hanging out the the family. We got to see Paul's sister Laurie and his other brother Michael. Also our niece Lisa who is back from serving over in Afghanistan was with us.

We enjoyed our visit and Melissa had a blast playing with her cousins.

On Saturday, November 21, 2009 we started to get in the Christmas spirit by decorating the Christmas Tree. Melissa was so excited about the Christmas Tree. I told her when she went down for her nap that after nap time she could help mommy and daddy with the Christmas Tree. The first thing she asked about was the tree when she got up. She went running in to the living room and said look at the big tree. We had a fun time her decorating the tree. We had Christmas music going. I didn’t have time to put out the rest of our Christmas things so I had wait until after Thanksgiving to get the stockings and all the other things out.

Melissa also went to see Santa Claus and wasn’t sure about sitting in his lap and talking to him. She wouldn’t tell him what she wanted so I guess we need to get a letter in the mail soon.

On Monday I took Melissa over to play with her friend Kaelyn. They haven't seen each other in months. We also got to meet baby Connor for the first time. Oh he is so sweet. I had forgotten what it was like to hold a new born. Melissa was in to him at first, but then her and Kaelyn went off to play. The girls had a really good time playing together. At one point the girls went to Kaelyn's room and Melissa was pretending to blow dry Kaelyn's hair with the toy hair dryer. It was cute to watch them pretend play together.

On Saturday Paul, Melissa, DD and I all went to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. This is our 3rd year to take Melissa to this pumpkin patch. She was only 4 months old her first trip. This year she was having a blast. We didn't time this trip well. We waited to go the last weekend and it was a beautiful day so everyone was at the pumpkin patch. It didn't stop us from taking lots of pictures and Melissa running around having fun.
Melissa's DD came in this past weekend so it was her first trip to the pumpkin patch with us. Melissa even talked her DD in to buying her some pumpkins. She bought on for us to carve. Melissa also enjoyed helping us carve the pumpkin. As you can see had fun. Also she is giving you a sneak peak of her Halloween costume.

Thursday night Melissa made the move from a baby bed to her big girl bed. She help us take down her baby bed and she even kissed it goodbye. She helped us get her big girl bed all together. She could not wait to lay down on it. Melissa is going to use my old bed room furniture that I had as a little girl and it was also my moms when she was a little girl. The head board, foot board and the night stand are being refinished and we hope to have them back by December and then we will have the two dresser draws done. We found a nice man to do this for us. Once we get all of the pieces back and get her room all put together I will post pictures. Until then here are some pictures of Melissa in her baby bed for the last time and of her in the big girl bed.
The first night she slept great , when she woke up the next morning she was asking when can she take a nap. She was ready to go back to sleep in her bed. She is doing really well with the bed.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been enjoying this time of year here in Texas. We don't get to enjoy fall that much, but it has been nice the last couple of weeks. Melissa is enjoying seeing pumpkins and scarecrows. One day in the store I noticed they had a pumpkin painting kit and since Melissa loves to paint I had to buy it. We also bought some baking pumpkins to make real pumpkin pie and then one pumpkin to decorate outside with our flowers and our new scarecrow Melissa picked out. She loves going out the front door and talking to the scarecrow.

This past weekend we took Melissa to the Coppell Oak Fest. It was free to get in and all the actives were also free. We only had to pay for food. Melissa and I road a train ride around the pond, she played in the bounce house. I think her favorite thing was dancing to the Emerald City Band. She wasn't happy when we left because she was having a blast dancing.

We hope to make it out to the pumpkin patch this weekend. I hope the rain will stay away over the weekend. I will post pictures of the pumpkin patch.

Paul, Melissa and I are happy to announce that we are going to have new family members. My sister Peyton is pregnant with twins! We are so excited for Peyton and bother in-law Alex. The babies are due April 6, 2010. Melissa is going to have two baby cousins to boss around and love on. My Great Aunt told my sister Peyton that Twins run in the family. We had never heard of this before.
Please say a prayer for Peyton and the babies. Peyton is 16 weeks and everything is looking great for the babies. The babies are called Baby A and Baby B. I want to go visit my sister but won’t get to see her until New Years!

On Tuesday, October 6, 2009 Melissa and I had a little birthday party for Paul aka Daddy. Melissa and I made him a triple chocolate fudge cake on Monday and then Tuesday I did the finishing touch to the cake. I have been wanting to make the Great Pumpkin Cake for years, but just never got around to doing it. I found this cake on Kraft.com and thought this would be the best time to make it since its fall.
Melissa and I bought Paul a nice lab top backpack that he had been eyeing for some time. This will make traveling a lot easier. If you don't know Paul travels at least 2 weeks out of every month.
I made chicken enchiladas for dinner and they were a hit! Paul had a good night with us and Melissa loved singing and helping daddy open up his cards and gifts. Don't laugh at the cake when you see it on the video, but it did taste good.

Welcome Connor Baker

On September 28, 2009 our dear friends Mark, Lena and big sister Kaelyn welcomed Connor Baker in to the world. He weighed in at 8lbs 7.5 oz and 19 1/2 inches. We can't wait to meet Connor, but since Melissa has a head cold we can't go over and visit. We don't won't to get baby Connor sick.

Remembering Jim Petty and Arturo Acebedo

Sorry it has been awhile since the last post. We have had some things going on, but I just haven’t been in the mood to blog. My two best friends lost their dads to cancer about two weeks a part. Linda’s dad lost his battle with leukemia after four years. Jim Petty fought a good fight for the past four years, but then the leukemia spread to his brain and there wasn’t anything the doctors could do for him. Jim passed away on September 17, 2009. Then on September 28, 2009 my other best friend Margarita called to tell me her dad had passed away with lung cancer. Arturo Acebedo fought his cancer for two years. I know that both men are up in heaven living a cancer free life. My heart goes out to my best friends. Please if you could keep the Petty and Acebedo family in your prayers.

Melissa had her CF appointment today. I can't believe it took us 3 1/2 hours today! I found out that the clinic is going paperless and the Doctors are having a hard time with the new system. I hope they know how to us the system in December or I will have to come up with some fun things to do for Melissa. I have learned over the last year to bring toys, books anything that will keep her happy. Melissa did really well today. She was a big girl today when she had her x-rays taken. Her chest x-rays looked really good. She still has clear lungs. Melissa has gained 2lbs since her last CF visit. That is good that she still continues to gain weight. It seems to be harder to feed her these days. She is getting so picky about what she wants to eat. I still have a hard time getting her to eat her vegetables.
Paul and I have noticed that Melissa was having some stomach problems like lots of gas. We didn't know if this could be CF related or not. The Doctor and the Dietitian thought it could be that Melissa needs extra enzymes. They have increased her enzymes to 4 capsules per meal and 2 per snacks. We will see if this will help her stomach out. Other than that nothing else to report. Melissa will go back in December right before Christmas!

I did ask about Melissa getting the swine flu shot and they recommend that she gets one and also us. We have already received the regular flu shot, but the swine flu should be available in October.

DD came to visit us this weekend. We had lots of fun with her. Paul and I even got to go to the movies on Saturday. We saw All about Steve, it was a good movie. We really didn't do much this weekend. Just hanging out as a family is always nice. Paul has been home for four days and Melissa has loving having her daddy home. Here are some pictures over the weekend. In my last post Melissa's 1st day at preschool I said she didn't take a nap that day. I'm sure it's because she was not use to have other people in the room while she was resting and also her nap time at home is around 1:00pm. Nap time or rest time at preschool is 11:45am. I had bought Melissa an inexpensive nap mate from WalMart, but it was just one of those plan mats. My friend was telling me where she got her daughters nap mat and it wasn't over $100. That was the problem I was find was the custom made nap mats with a pillow and blankets cost around $100 or more. I wasn't about to spend that on a nap mat that may or may not get used. My friend told me about Custom Baby Boutique I ordered Melissa the ready to ship nap mat and had her name put on it. Custom Baby Boutique is awesome, I ordered the mat on late Wednesday night and on Friday afternoon I had it in my hands. I will be using them for future orders. Melissa was so excited about this new nap mat that she wanted to take a nap on it yesterday. I started laughing and said " you take a nap on the floor and not in your bed"? She took a two hour nap in her new nap mat on her bedroom floor with all her toys all around her. I told her " if I hear you playing I will take your mat away and put you in your bed". Melissa was a sleep in 5 minutes. I could not believe my eyes. Today she is taking another nap on her mat. I hope on Tuesday when she goes back to school she will want to take a nap on her mat. I will let you know how that goes.

Melissa started preschool today, I also started back to work part time at the preschool. The preschool is at our Church Christian Learning Center or as we call it CLC. I'm a teacher, but I'm called a floater. Since Melissa might have to be pulled out of school later on this winter with cold and flu season it was best for me to be a floater so they won't have to fill my position while I'm out with Melissa. We pray Melissa won't have to be pulled out because she will miss school. It will be important that we keep Melissa healthy. She can't afford to get sick.
Back to Melissa's first day at preschool. She did great getting up and ready to go. She was so excited to be going to school. Paul and I have been talking about her going to school. Melissa did well with me dropping her off at her class. Her teacher Mrs. Leslie, Mrs Ann and Mrs. Judy are all nice and you can tell they have a love for kids. Mrs. Leslie has three daughters and her youngest is 2 1/2. Mrs. Ann and Mrs. Judy are older women with grown kids. As I said goodbye to Melissa at the door she walked on in and found her friend Brooke. Brooke is in her Sunday School class so it was great to know she already had a friend. As you all know Melissa is like her mommy and can make friends fast.
I had give Melissa her enzymes before her snack time and she was having lots of fun. She thought I was there to pick her up and she wasn't ready to go. When it was time to pick her up at 2:00pm Mrs. Leslie said she was wonderful and loves to give hugs to all her new friends even when two of them took a nap. That meant Melissa didn't take a nap so she took one on the way home. Learning to sleep on a Nap Mate is going to take practice. Melissa was also a big girl and didn't have an accident in her panties.

As for my day it was busy. I helped out in the 4 year old class today. It was fun being with older. I'm looking forward to next week we go twice a week so it should be fun!

Melissa has become miss independent. I haven't posted about potty training in awhile so for those who don't care to read about potty training well this is good news. Melissa has had some moments where she didn't want to go potty and would not tell me. I have had days that I thought what was I thinking I wish I had kept her in diapers! I guess over the last 4 months with me on my knees asking God please help Melissa understand and for me to get through potty training. Last week Melissa surprised me and told me "no mommy I can do it" and shut the bathroom door. I was talking to her telling her "pull your panties down and get on the potty and go pee pee". As I'm saying this I'm thinking big mess to clean up. I hear the sound of pee going in the potty and I started screaming "Good Job Melissa" She did it on her own. It has been a week and yes she has had some accidents in the bathroom, but at least she is trying to do this on her own so I can't get upset. What a difference it makes in 4 months. I can't wait to see how she is doing when she is 2 1/2 in December.
Melissa is also doing well at nap time. She is keeping her bed dry during nap time. She is still having problems with nighttime, but I have gone to waterproof panties I found and it is helping us get some sleep. Melissa will wake up when her panties are wet and still go potty at night. I gave up on getting up three times at night. We both need our sleep. I know with age the nighttime potty training will get better.

Last Saturday our niece Courtney (Paul's sisters daughter) graduated from College. We went to Courtney's graduation. Paul and I are so proud of her and know she will do great out in the real world. She is having a hard time finding a job in this economy. No one is hiring or if they are she and 100 other people have applied for the job.

Two weeks ago we took Melissa to see the Wiggles live. Thanks to our wonderful friend who gave us free tickets. She is also the one who got us free tickets to Elmo live. We wouldn't be taking Melissa to all of these special events if we had to pay for them. Melissa had a good time dancing and singing. Paul and I noticed she wasn't that into it as she was with Elmo.

I have been so busy since this trip, but I thought I should post about our first getway since Melissa was born. Paul and I had our first a long weekend getaway in over two years. The last vacation we had just the two of us was when I was six months pregnat with Melissa. Since then we have had family vacations.

This was a must needed trip. It was so good just to spend one on one time with each other and remember what it was like when it was just the two of us. Oh don't get me wrong, I thought about Melissa all the time, but I knew she was in good hands. Melissa stay home and her DD came and took care of her. Paul had been working in Calfronia for three weeks and I got to join him at the end of the 2nd week. I packed my bags and flew to Santa Anna, Calfroina. I didn't know what to since I was flying by myslef. I didn't have to worry about anyone but myself. Oh it was a weird feeling. Paul was staying in Laguna Hills and we spent most of the time out on the beach. We love the beach and the sun! Laguna Beach is a nice place to visit. It has a lot of history to it. I was reading the history about Laguna Beach and it is the home of the artist. Laguna Beach has an Art Festaval from June-September. I hadn't every seen many artist before. One of my favorite artist Wayland has his on Gallery at Laguna Beach. I was first was introudced to Wayland's art work on my honeymoon in Maui Hawaii. I don't have a pieace of his work, but when I get a house and have the money I'm buying something from him.

Our weekend started out on Thursday, July 30, 2009. Paul had to work that day and by the time I flew in and got settled in at the hotel it was getting close to dinner time. So off we went to Laguna Beach area. We ate a place call Las Brisas it was good. On Friday Paul had to work so I had a day to myself. What to do, I haven't been by myself in two years! I slept in and headed down to the pool. I needed to start reading my stuff for my new job. That passed the time and then it was lunch time. Paul had a short lunch break so we headed to In-N-Out Burger. This is a must when you go to California. After lunch we I took Paul back to work and I had the rent car to do what ever. I did some shopping and just enjoyed the beautiful Calfornia weather. That evening we headed back to the beach area and had a good dinner at El Callejon. After dinner we walked around and did some window shopping. We did buy Melissa and I something. We got matching ankel braclets and toe rings at Shelby's. They had all kinds of neat items. Melissa is getting in to jewelry and I thought it would be fun for us to be matching.
Saturday rolled around and we headed to the beach. Our friends told us of a nice beach to try out. Laguna beach is so busy, if you just go either a little south or a little north the beaches aren't so bad. We spent the day at Treasure Island Beach. I hadn't been in the pacific water but I heard it was cold. Yes, it was cold but it didn't take long to get use to it. The ocean was ruff that day so the waves where strong. I didn't spend a lot of time in the water that day. I enjoyed laying out on the beach sleeping , reading and just doing a lot of thinking. After the long day at the beach we head for a nice dinner to Nick's the have good fish and chips. One of Paul's co-workers told us about a great place to get good milk shakes. We took a little drive to Newport beach and found the Shake Shack. I think this place was at one time family owned and had a lot more choice to choose from. Even Rachel Ray had this on her $40 a day show. We found out it was bought out to Ruby's Diner. I thought the shackes were good. The view from Crystal Cove was beautiful. Sunday was our last day of vaction. We got up that moring and head back to Newport Beach and took a Auto Ferry to Balboa Island. Come to find out we could have drove to this Island also. It only cost us $3.00 to take the Ferry. One thing about this Island is parking. I don't know what it's like on the week days, but the weekend its impossible to find a parking spot. Every parking spot has a meter so you have to pay and you only have 6 hours to park in that spot. I like the beach, the waves where bigger than Treasure Island Beach, but not as strong. I don't know if that makes since. Paul and I had fun playing in the waves and we got lots of sun that day. We finally got to see a sunset. All the other nights the clouds would roll in right before the sunset and we never got our sunset over the ocean until Sunday. Paul and I had a great time and we hope we can do this again in about 6 months. Since Paul travels so much he is always going to neat places.

Yesterday our cousin Lauren came over to our place to hang out with us. She has been staying with her grandmother this week. Lauren is twelve and is a sweet girl. I remember playing with her and carrying her around when she was Melissa's age. Melissa loved having her cousin come play with her. It was niece for me to have someone playing with her. Lauren and Melissa stayed in her room a lot playing. After Melissa's nap we headed to the water park and had great time. Wish Lauren lived close to us, she would be a great babysitter.

Last night Melissa and I (Traci) met our friends at Chuck E. Cheese. I had never been in a Chuck E Cheese, so I didn't know what to expect other than lots of noise and kids. Well I was right! At first I wasn't going to take Melissa there because of the germs, but I remember her doctors telling it's ok for her to go to place like that as long as we wash her hands and its not during the cold and flu season. So I had to put my guard down and let her go and be a kid and experience Chuck E Cheese.
Melissa had a blast. She thought it was fun riding the rides eating pizza and playing with her friends Jakob and Javi. When Melissa saw the Chuck E Cheese come out and walking around talking to all the kids she went straight for him. At her age most kids are scared of the characters like that, but not Melissa. She was hugging on him. They also have a Chuck E Cheese that is on stage and she found it.
I'm glad that Paul and I can do things with Melissa. We are blessed she is doing well enough with her CF that she can be around other kids and germs. Life can or could be different so I don't want her missing out on life.
All in All I think Chuck E Cheese was a hit and I'm sure we will be going back.

This is old news, but I haven't had time to post since we went to my Grandmother's 80th Birthday party on July 4, 2009. Our family had a surprise 80th Birthday party for Mema. She was so surprised to all of her family there. We all came in at different times during the party. Every time someone new would walk in she would start crying. I'm so glad we went to the celebration. This is Melissa's only Great Grandmother living so it means a lot to me to have these memories also for me, it's my only Grandmother living. Paul's Grandmothers passed away when he was younger.

Not only did we have fun at the party, but the whole weekend was great we spent lots of time with family. My sister and brother-in law had us over a lot and then my Aunt and Uncle from Florida let us come over to the hotel to swim. Then of course we watch the 4th of July fireworks. What a great weekend

I love pictures that are taken outside and not with a back drop, but we have never been able to afford a professional photographer before, other than at our wedding. Shelley said she isn't a professional photographer , but loves to take pictures. I thought she did a good job.

My Birthday was a good one. I told Paul it was good because I didn't have to get onto Melissa at all yesterday. She was good for me. It was also a good day. I had lunch with a good friend and then that evening Paul and Melissa had my little birthday party. I had to make my own cake, but that's fine with me. Melissa loved the cool whip on the cake as you will see in the last picture of the video.

Today is my birthday, I just thought I would let you all know about this special day. Well to me it's just another day. Don't get me wrong I still like to get gifts and have all the fun for my birthday. It just seems as I get older I don't do as much for my day.

Here is a picture of me when I was two. The dress I have on was made by my great grandmother Buck. She loved to sew and made my sister and I dresses.

Last weekend Paul and I took Melissa swimming and she found a new friend to play with. Meet Baby Rock. Baby Rock goes every were with us and has been taken good care of by Melissa. You will see in the video that Melissa rocks Baby Rock to sleep and puts Baby Rock to bed. Baby Rock isn't the prettiest rock, but to Melissa it's just perfect.

Last Tuesday Melissa had her CF Check up and it was another good check up.

She has to go every three months. First I have to say it has been a fast two years. On this day Melissa took cupcakes to the CF Clinic to help celebrate her 2nd Birthday, but also to thank the CF Staff for all they have done for us. It hasn't been an easy two years, but it has been good. The staff was so surprised that Melissa thought of them. I think it's important that we thank them.

Melissa's check up was great once again she is doing well. Her lungs are clear and her weight is good. She weighs 29lbs and is 35 inches tall. Melissa's was examined by Dr. Prestidge today. He was one of the first CF Doctors we met and he was shock to see her. He said that she doesn't look like a CF patient. He means this because of her weight and she isn't cough all the time.

Paul and I went to a CF seminar back in April and got to meet Adult CF patients. It was great to hear their stories and how they are living a normal life. The oldest adult was a 51 year old female. She has twin boys who are 21 years old. She was telling us the stories of when she was diagnosed. She said the Young kids these days have it made with all the drugs, and medical supplies.
Also a Doctor from Cook's Children gave us some great news that there is a drug in the testing faze that looks promising.

Once again thanks for your prayers, I truly believe that this is why Melissa is so healthy because of all the prayers.

Last night Melissa and I took Dada out to eat for father's day. Today after his first cup of coffee Melissa and I gave him his presents. I got him a father's day shirt and Melissa made him a picture frame that says I love Daddy and at VBS she made him something special.

The poem on Melissa's gift says:

Melissa it's seems just like yesterday when I held you in my arms for the first time. Now you are climbing in my lap giving me hugs and kisses and even saying " Mommy hold you" it should be "Mommy hold me". You have grown so much in the last year that I don't even know where to began. I still remember you at your 1st birthday party with the cake all over your face. You had started walking around 10 months and now you are running. We went on our first family vacation last year to the beach. I got to see your face when the waves hit your face you would laugh every time. We went back again this year and you had even a better time playing in Uncle Steve and Aunt Cynthia's pool. You also loved floating in the ocean. You said "I like it". Daddy said that was worth the trip. We can't wait to have more family vacation with you. Daddy is holding out to take you skiing.
Over the last year you have learned to sing and dance. You can sing, Jesus loves me, Amazing Grace, Twinkle Twinkle little star, The ABC's, The wheels on the bus, Baby Bumble Bee, and lots more. Daddy and I are so amazed how fast you learn the songs and then you can signing it over and over. I love watching you dance it's just puts a smile on my face. You also can count to 10. I could go on and on with the things you can do. Daddy and I also loved taking you to see ELMO, you had the best time of your life that night singing and dancing. Things like that make us happy to see you happy.
You haven't always been the easiest toddler, you have had the hardest time with your teeth coming in. I always knew when you were teething, you would have a bad day or week and so would I. I have to say I'm glad you have all your teeth, expect for the two year molars that are coming in now.

Melissa you are growing up so fast that I'm so blessed to stay home with you and have this bonding time with you. One day you will be going off the kindergarten and I won't have all day with you. Speaking of school you will be starting preschool this fall. I know you will love it. I watched you at VBS playing with the kids and making art work and the teacher told me you knew all the songs they sang to you.

God has blessed you these last two years, he has kept you healthy. I know you don't know that you have CF, but there will come a day that you will know about it and will have to deal with your health. We count our blessings every day that we have you and that you aren't sick. I know in your life time there is going to be a cure found for this disease. I look forward to this next year to see what all you will be doing and have done.

I hope you have had a happy birthday this year. You had almost a whole week of celebrating going on. It started out with your birthday party on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Daddy and I know how much you like the water so we knew the water park would be fun. It was a good idea because it was hot that day, but you and your friends didn't seem to care that it was hot. You had friends and family come for your party. After all the fun was over it was time to go home a take a nap. When you woke up you had more gifts waiting on you. DD got you your 1st tricycle and Erica got you baby bed for your dolls. On Monday, June 15, 2009 we met up with our cousins from Arizona, they came to Texas for a visit. We had fun playing at a different water park. You and cousin Addie hit it off. She loved playing with you and you loved her playing with you. That night we went out to eat for dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe. You had fun with the Elephants and Gorilla's. Cousin David and Vickie got you and mommy a birthday cake and the staff sang Happy Birthday to us.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2009 we didn't do much other than go to your CF check up. I will post about that on the next post. Then on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 (The BIG Day) you turned two. I took you out for breakfast. Daddy was out of town so he could not join us. We went to Dunkin Donuts and you had a sprinkle donut. You told me " I like it mommy" That was all worth it. Then after breakfast you had your two year check up. Can you believe you weigh 29lbs and are 35 inches tall? I knew you had gotten taller because you are reaching things that are on the counter and table. I guess I need to keep the counters and table clean. After your two year check up we met up with Cousin Jana at Chick fl A for lunch. This is one of your favorite places to eat. I also like it. The rest of the day we didn't do much, because you have already had a busy week. On Thursday, June 18, 2009 the UPS driver knock on the door and it was a package for you. Boy are you spoiled, how many people get to keep having a birthday all week. The package was a toy from Uncle Steve and Aunt Cynthia.

Our baby girl is two years old today! At 11:19am on June 17, 2007 she entered the world with her eyes wide open! It's hard to believe how fast two years has come and gone. I will posted more later on today, but I wanted to let all our blogger friends know about the special day today.

Melissa had her birthday party last Saturday so I'm working on the video. This morning I took Melissa to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and then off to the doctors for her 2 year check up. I didn't think she would care if she got a shot on her Birthday! After her appointment we met our cousin Jana for lunch at Chick Fil A . Melissa has already had a busy day and I'm sure more surprises to come later on. Daddy is out of town this week so he is missing all the fun!

On Friday, June 5, 2009 Paul, Melissa and I met up with our bible fellowship class for a night at the Frisco Rough Riders game. This is a minor league baseball team. It's a nice family friendly baseball park. We went last year with Melissa, but she was not even a year old yet and didn't enjoy it as much. This year was a different story. She was ready to cheer for the Rough Riders. She also had some older friends to play with so that help pass the time. One thing Melissa wanted to do was see the "Bear" that is really a praire dog. Melissa spotted the two Mascots and that was all she could talk about. Finally Deuce and Daisey came to see their fans. I didn't know how she would act when they were up close and personal. She ran to them and gave the a BIG HUG. I was shocked to see her do this. She hasn't been around anything like this other than Santa Claus. After the game we stayed for Fire works and once again Melissa enjoyed seeing the sky light up. She clapped and screamed "More". She didn't get to see fireworks last year at 4th of July she was sleeping. So this was another first for her. We had a great time hanging out with our friends and enjoying a nice Texas evening.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in over two weeks. Life around here has been busy for us. After we got back from visiting DD we had a week to rest and repack our bags for our family vacation to Florida. The week of our trip Melissa came down with fever so I had to take her in to the Doctors to make sure she was okay. Melissa had 102 fever for 3 days. The Doctor said it was a viral infection and nothing we could do expect give her Motrin. I had been giving her Motrin, but it didn't seem to be working. I ask the nurse how much I should be giving her of the infant Motrin. Well comes to find out even though the package said 6-24 months doesn't mean Melissa needs that. She weighed 29 lbs so they said she could take Children's Motrin. No wonder I could not get her fever down. After Melissa got better, I came down with a sines infection two days before our trip. I wasn't going to let this stop me from my well deserved vacation. So off to the Doctor's office. Since I was leaving for vacation my Doctor was nice enough to give me a shot to help speed up the healing. I still had to take antibiotics.

On May 23, 2009 Paul, Melissa and I headed to the airport for our family vacation. I was nervous about this trip because it was over 2 hours and with Melissa being potty trained I didn't know how she would do on a longer flight. She did great, no accidents. As we arrived in Tampa Florida we could already feel the warm air and was ready to hit the water. We stayed with Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Steve in Tarpon Springs Florida, this is on the West Coast side. This is our annual trip to see them. We love hang out with them and they love having us, but most of all having Melissa around to spoil.

We spent the first day taking a nap (since we had to get up earlier to catch a plane) and swimming in there pool. Melissa loved walking outside and seeing a swimming pool. She is our little fish! The next day we headed to Clearwater Florida to check out the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. We thought Melissa would like to see this. As we arrived a dolphin show was starting. This was the first time Melissa had seen a dolphin. She loved every minute of the show. They also had sea turtles, otters and sting rays.
After that we went to eat lunch at Bubby Gumps it was tasty! Then it was time to head back to the house for Melissa afternoon nap. That evening we stay home swimming.

On the 3rd and 4th day we headed to Honeymoon Island for the beach. It's only a 10 minute drive from the house. Once again Melissa loved the water. She loved the water splashing her face.

Our last day the 5th day we took Melissa to a park so she could run around. At this point we needed a break from the water. It was a nice park she had fun and made new friends. We had a nice picnic lunch the we headed back home to rest so we could swim one last time on our vacation. Melissa was doing so well jumping the pool. She isn't afraid to jump and I glad she likes the water, but it also make me scared that she loves it so much. I see more swim lesson coming soon.

On May 28, 2009 we pack our bags and headed back to the airport. We where sad to go home, but it was time. Melissa didn't understand why we had to go home. We love make this family memories with Melissa. We had a great vacation and look forward to going back again next year.

It's been a month

It has been a month since we started potty training. I have to say I didn't think I was going to make it passed the first 3 days, but every day gets better and better. She is getting so good at telling when she has to go potty. We took our first trip last week out of town and she did great. I didn't know what to expect flying on a the plan, but she did great. She is having night time training, but I know it's getting better because she is crying out at night and that's her way of saying "hey I need to potty". She has at least one pee pee accident at night. That's better than three.
Yes, Melissa still has some accidents during the day, but I know that is normal for a 23 month old. It's not going to be 100 % everyday.

Last Tuesday, May 12, 2009 Melissa and I headed to West Texas to visit my mom and other family and friends. We also went for the Great Strides Walk. During our visit we went to the park a lot, feed the ducks and even was chased by a goose. Melissa and I went to visit my sister Peyton one day. I took Melissa out to DD's work and she had a blast seeing all the big trucks. My Grandmother and Melissa Great Grandmother came over to visit us and for the day. Melissa has her Great Grandmother wrapped around her finger. Melissa went to her first College Graduation. My dear friend Sara who I call my little sister graduated from Junior College. Melissa did well through out the Graduation. She like hearing the band playing.
Most off all Melissa had fun playing at DD's house. DD had a baby doll bed that was hers when she was a little girl and I also played with it. Melissa thought it was fun putting her babies to sleep in their own bed. She would even tell them "No pee in the bed."
She also loved playing the piano. You can see in the video how serious she was playing the piano. I have seen over the last year how much Melissa loves music. She can hear a song one time and be singing it or she will just start dancing to the music.

On Saturday, May 16, 2009 Melissa, Paul and I walked in the Lubbock Texas Great Strides Walk. This was our 2nd year to walk in Lubbock. Melissa's Crew had 15 walkers this year! The weather was cold and raniey, but that didn't stop the walk.
Paul and I were so happy to see this many turn out for Melissa. I had a big smile on my face the whole day. We had close friends and family walking with us and also a lot of my moms (DD) co-workers. My Uncle Sherwood drove all the way from Dallas to Lubbock just to walk for his Great niece. He could not be at the walk in Plano this year. We thank all of those who came out to walk with us at the Lubbock walk. Also thank you DD for getting a team together again this year and raising money to find a Cure.

Last week our sister in-law Jackie and our nieces Sydney (10) and Jordan (4) came to visit for three days. Melissa had a blast playing with her cousins.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 Jackie, Sydney, Jordan and I went to the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs while Paul and Melissa stayed home and played.

Tutankhamun and the Golden age of Pharaohs" explores the figures who guided ancient Egypt more than 3,000 years ago. The exhibition focuses on the 18th Dynasty, a 100-year period when Egypt was at the height of its power and the "golden age" of Egyptian artistry. This was the era when Tutankhamun and his ancestors reigned. The extensive array of more than 130 extraordinary artifacts from the tomb of Tutankhamun and other ancient Egyptian sites features 50 of Tutankhamun's burial objects, including his royal diadem and one of the four gold and precious stone inlaid canopic coffinettes that contained his mummified internal organs.

I really enjoyed it, I like doing things like this now that I'm older and wiser. Sydney and Jordan didn't want to be there, but one day they will like things like this.

That night Jackie and the girls stayed and had dinner with us. Melissa loved playing with Sydney and Jordan.

On Thursday, May 7, 2009 Sydney and Jordan spent the night with us. Melissa didn't know that they had stayed over. The next morning she was up and ready to go by 7:30am. Sydney and Jordan had stayed up late watching TV so I was doing everything I could to keep Melissa out of the living room. She found her way to the living room and found her cousins sleeping on the floor. She wanted to get on the air mattress and wake them up.

The girls stayed with me all day on Friday while Jackie ran some errands that day. We went to the park and once again Melissa loved having her cousins playing with her at the park. You could tell she was eating it up.

Texas Legislature to Fund CF Newborn Screening

Texas Legislature to Fund CF Newborn Screening – All 50 States Soon to be Screening for CF
May 11, 2009
The Texas Legislature has approved legislation that includes full funding for newborn screening for cystic fibrosis. Once passed, the legislation will provide funds to ensure that every infant born in the state is checked for CF at birth.
Texas was the last state to adopt a full newborn screening program. The state will determine an exact start date for the program shortly.
Babies that are screened are more likely to be diagnosed earlier, which means that they can start treatment sooner. Early treatment for babies with CF can lead to better health, fewer hospitalizations and longer lives.
Legislators in Texas supported newborn screening funding after hearing from CF Advocates about the importance of the program. CF Advocates have been instrumental in bringing about newborn screening successes. Since 2005, Advocates have helped convince forty five states to require that all newborns be screened for cystic fibrosis.
You can speak out to your elected officials on behalf of people with cystic fibrosis.

On May 2, 2009 we walked in the Collin County Great Strides Walk. We had a good turn out at the walk. Our team was small this year because of the date, but Melissa's Crew raised $2, 795. We still have some more fundraiser coming. Enjoy the video and watch the end with Melissa dancing.

Seven years ago Paul and I said "I do" to each other. Wow has it really been seven years? I know for those who have been married longer than me you are thinking oh that's nothing. I'm just amazed how fast time has gone. Marriage has been good to us. We are still in love and look forward to many many more years. Life has changed since Melissa has joined our family, but it has been worth it. I love you Paul and Thank You for being a great husband to me.

Today has been a great Mother's Day, I'm so blessed to be Melissa's mom. She has changed my life for the better. Melissa and Paul gave me a pretty Willow Tree Angel and some pretty cards. Paul made dinner for me and even cleaned the kitchen up.

About three weeks ago my Aunt came to see us. She hasn't met Melissa and was in the DFW area for the weekend. This would be Melissa Great Aunt. It was nice to see her. This was right after I started potty training so I was stressed out.

Also the same day my mom (DD) as Melissa calls her came in and stayed 9 days with us. I tell you my mom (DD) was a big help to me while Paul was gone on a business trip. DD helped me with Melissa's potty training and also I got to get out of the house and run errands with out Melissa. I even took time to go to the dentist. Melissa loved having DD giving her all her attention.

I just thought I would share that Melissa has been accident free during the day for 2 weeks. She is even doing so well going to the bathroom in public places. I can't tell you how proud I am of her.
Nighttime potty training isn't going that well. Last weekend she went two nights with out an accident, but then that stopped. She did have one dry night this past week and then this morning she woke up dry. I think this is going to take a little longer. I'm really tired getting up two or three times at night checking on her and taking her to the potty. I feel like I did when she was a newborn not sleep all night. Melissa is doing great going back to sleep.
